Cinnamon sugar donuts š©āØ

prep time: 1 hrs & 30 mins
frying time: 10 - 15 mins
serving: 8 large donuts or 12 regular sized donuts
Yeast Mixture ā”
1 cup (240g) warm milk
1 tbsp (9g) active dry yeast
1 tbsp (12g) sugar
ā” Let rest for 10 minutes until foamy
Dough ā”
1/3 cup (67g) sugar
2 eggs
6 tbsp (85g) melted butter (salted or unsalted)
4 and 1/2 cups (540g) all-purpose flour (make sure to spoon and level off the flour into measuring cup!)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla extract
Yeast mixture
ā” Knead for about 5 minutes until the dough comes together
ā” Cover the dough in an oiled bowl and let rest for 1 hour
cinnamon sugar coating ā”
2 and 1/2 cups (300g) granulated sugar
2 tbsp of cinnamon
Rolling the Dough ā”
ā” Roll the dough 3/4 inch thick and use a 4-5 inch cookie cutter to cut out the donuts
ā” Re-roll the dough and cut out the remaining donuts
ā” If you don't have cookie cutters, just use what you have on hand! (a cup will work)
ā” Transfer the donuts to a baking sheet and cover and let rest for another 30-40 minutes
Frying ā”
ā” Heat 2-3 inches of oil to 350F (177C)
ā” Fry the donuts for about 1 minute on each side (half a minute for donut holes)
ā” Make sure your oil is consistently around 350F! Adjust the heat as needed
ā” Drain hot donuts on paper towels or a wire rack
